Fact One

America’s human spaceflight program concluded when Atlantis launched on 8th July 2011 and its landing on 21st July 2011.

The other two countries who have their independent spaceflight operations are China and Russia. Recently, Iran and India have announced their intentions to send a manned spaceflight into the universe.

Fact Two- 4th October 1957

The first artificial satellite Sputnik I was launched by the Soviet Union. It was the start of a competition between Americans & Soviets.

Fact Three- 1st October 1958

On this date, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) established in the United States.

Fact Four- 25th May 1961

Congress was addressed by the American President John F. Kennedy who states that he thinks our country should commit to reaching this objective of landing a man on the moon before this decade.

Fact Five- 12th April 1961

Yuri Gargarin becomes the first human to reach the space abroad Vostok 1 by spending almost 2 hours there.

Fact Six- 5th May 1961

The first American astronaut Alan B. Shepard reached space abroad Freedom 7 and spent 15 minutes in the sub-orbital flight.

Fact Seven- 20th July 1969

A group of Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin Jr., Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins becomes the first humans to step foot on the Earth’s natural satellite Moon.

Fact Eight- 18-24th June 1983

The first American woman Sally Ride go to space during the STS-7 mission.

Fact Nine- 28th April 2001

Dennis Tito pays a whopping amount of US$ 20 million to become the first space tourist on a Russian rocket.

Fact Ten- 1st February 2003

All the crew members of Columbia killed during the mission STS-107, which was an only second loss of a shuttle in the space history.

Fact Eleven- June 2012

The Shenzhou 9 was launched by China having three crew members, Liu Yang, Jing Haipeng, and Liu Wang at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center that located at the Western Gansu. The amazing thing about this mission is Liu Wang who becomes the first women taikonaut to enter the space.

Fact Twelve- 1st September 2016

A SpaceX rocket gets destroyed during a test firing at the Cape Canaveral launch pad. It was scheduled to launch on 3rd September, 2016.
